Small Groups

Why Small Groups?

"We see a new Woodmont where we are transformed by God's calling in our lives. We see a new closeness with each other in our Christian community as well as a reaching out into the community to discover and meet the needs of those in the broader community.

Small groups are communities, brought together by their common interests and passions. As people become interested in their spiritual life, we would assist with further identification of their needs, assessment of their spiritual gifts and in enabling them to go forth in the mission that God is calling them to provide. Most missions will be accomplished by small groups that gather regularly for prayer, study of Scripture, fellowship and mission. These small groups become a primary point of connection, support, growth and nurture as well as significant groups for outreach and ministry."

What do Small Groups mean to Woodmont?

Joining a small group offers an opportunity to explore an area of common interest, while you make new friends and deepen your faith. If Woodmont seems large to you, small groups offer a chance to build deeper relationships within a smaller community. Groups form in many areas. Some explore common interests, like the Woodmont Writers Group. Heavenly Helpers work together to help those in need. The Woman’s Prayer group comes together to lift up those in the Woodmont family in need of prayer support. Whatever your interests, we want to provide a group you might be engaged.

While our groups are diverse, each has in common the desire to deepen their faith. To be most effective these groups should meet on a regular basis and each meeting should contain four elements. These are:

  1. Prayer
  2. Scripture
  3. Fellowship
  4. Mission

There is not a more effective means for growing and maintaining connection to the church than small groups.

Interested in joining a small group?

Woodmont offers a wide range of small groups. Some emphasize service; others bible study; yet others join people of common interests like hiking and knitting. New groups are always being formed, so it is difficult to offer a comprehensive list. The following groups welcome new members! If one is of interest, contact the small group leader to learn more:
